• Abuser is/was a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Abuse occurred during the marriage (battering or extreme cruelty)
• Spouse/parent of the abuser, with timing rules for divorce or death
• Generally reside in the U.S. (with exceptions)
• Marriage entered in good faith
• Have lived with the abuser at some point
• Good moral character for at least the past three years
